London,
United Kingdom, 18 September 2001 - Already
a multi-award winner with more than 25 awards
and accolades under its belt, Banyan Tree Hotels
and Resorts again rose to the occasion at the
recent annual Condé Nast Traveller Readers'
Awards 2001 (UK). Banyan Tree Phuket led top spa
resorts in Asia by winning the prestigious runner-up
title in the Best Overseas Hotel Spas category
and was only 0.75 of a percentage point behind
the established Le Saint Geran, Mauritius. Banyan
Tree received a top score of 95% among hotel brands
above Amanpuri Phuket Thailand (88.2%), Chiva-Som
Health Resort Hua Hin, Thailand (93%), Four Seasons
Resort Jimbaran Bay, Bali (92.38%) and Soneva
Fushi Maldives (92.27%) within The World's Top
100 list.
The
Readers' Travel Awards questionnaires were inserted
in the May 2001 issue of Condé Nast Traveller
and replies were then sent to Market Management,
an independent market research company, which
analysed the data. The judging criteria for hotel
spas worldwide include location, ambience/décor,
environmental friendliness, service/staff, standard/comfort
of accommodation, range of treatments, food/restaurants,
facilities/equipment and value for money.
Said Mr Edwin Yeow, Joint Managing Director of
Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, "It is again
a tremendous honour for Banyan Tree Phuket to
be rated as one of the world's best spas. Condé
Nast Traveller readers travel extensively and
are known for their exquisite taste in leisure
activities. The award recognises Banyan Tree Phuket's
devoted and continual efforts in ensuring each
spa experience is an extremely exclusive and memorable
encounter for every guest."
