United

(A & E) Television Networks in the United
States, has ranked an Asian spa as the ultimate
spa experience: A & E "Top Spa and Retreat
Experience."
1. Banyan Tree, Phuket
2. Golden Door, California
3. Grand Wailea, Maui
4. Miraval, Arizona
5. Rancho La Puerta, Mexico
6. Canyon Ranch Tucson, Arizona
7. Global Fitness Adventures
8. Chopra Center for Well Being, California

A & E Television Networks, a joint venture
between Hearst Corporation, ABC and NBC, is an
award winning international media company - with
20 Primetime 1999 Emmy nominations. The cable
network is beamed into the homes of 76 million
American Nielsen subscribers.
Banyan Tree Phuket was ranked No. 1, above other
world class spas. The experts ranked Banyan Tree
Phuket top in the following criteria: number of
services offered, best value, setting, spa cuisine
and uniqueness of experience.
Says Edwin Yeow, Joint Managing Director, Banyan
Tree Hotels and Resorts, "Banyan Tree Phuket
is Asia's first and largest tropical garden spa.
We are glad to be the pioneer in the tropical
spa concept and this recognition is indeed a confirmation
that the Asian Spa has arrived."
Taking the lead once more in the spa resort concept,
the Banyan Tree Phuket launched the Spa Pool Villa
in March 2000. Here, guests at the resort have
an exclusive dedicated spa treatment room within
their villas, equipped with a private swimming
pool and an outdoor jacuzzi.
All three resorts in Phuket, Maldives and Bintan
have The Banyan Tree Spa, featuring a range of
treatment options, from ancient Eastern healing
and relaxation techniques to European rejuvenation
therapies, and massages using indigenous essential
oils and organic essences of aromatic plants -
all representing the best of the Oriental Tropical
Spa.
